Last week out of a project..my desi consultancy sent me a termination notice(on H1 with this guy). 485 filed in July 2007. got EAD. I am looking for a project right now. Planning to join on EAD and look for a job.
What are my options? I am in status?

I had both PERM and I-140 copy. I think I-140 should be enough. Any way check with the lawyer, of the new company before resigning from the current one.
You should get 3 years, in a normal case, depends on the reviewing officer. If not you can apply for H1-Extn based on approved I-140 from prev employer ( Current Employer should not revoke it, I think) . I changed twice after I-140 and both times i got 3 years.

Howdy fellow Aliens,
My wife's EAD just got approved. Now I have to get her a SSN so she can start working part time. Firstly I should ask can she get a SSN provided her I-485 application is filed and she has a valid EAD ? Any idea how long it takes to get the dang SSN ? I appreciate your help as always.
EAD is for work, SSN for Tax purposes, etc. Apply for SSN, I dont think you need to wait for the actual SSN number before your wife starts working.

As I see it, the 7% cap is nothing but a clear case of affirmative action on a global scale. Republicans would definitely support removing this cap if the debate was framed in this angle rather than to give relief to any particular country. Relief is to the business's in the US - the freedom for them to hire the best in the world not to forced in to affirmative action due to quotas in high skilled immigration.

My Wife was 5 months pregnant when we went for medical exam in June 07. Her Obgyn did all the HPV and HIV medical tests in Feb 07 and additionally did the vericella anti bodies blood test in May 07. She did not take the this time TB skin test as both of us tested Skin test positive and Chest X ray negative in 2003 and we both took 9 months preventive medication.
We transferred all the medical records from my Primary care to Civil surgeon for other vaccinations that we took back in 2004 before going for our first baby so that we don't get into this vaccinations mess . So he just wrote the comment to do the Chest X Ray again at primary care physician after the baby is born and certified fully healthy. So this time I did not spend a dime on her medical tests as everything was covered by Insurance. I just took chest X Ray and then Blood test at county health department.
All you need to do is to take the records from your primary care or OBGYN and take them to Civil surgeon. Make sure to take your wife's blood reports done OBGYN in addition to her referral letter. Everything will be alright. If you did not take vaccines, then he will write his recommendation which will result in RFE.

I think the only way you can get a second PERM approved for same employee at same company, is if the second position is "significantly different" from the first position. E.g., at least a different job title and different job description, but ideally completely different o*net code. Note that your problem will be with DoL at the LC stage, not USCIS at the I-140 stage. DoL will not approve a second PERM app for same employee at same company if position is substantially similar.
You *might* be able to get approval for a second PERM with similar job description if you completely withdraw the first PERM. I'm not sure if you can withdraw a PERM certification after its been used for an I-140 though.
With trickier cases like this, I've always found it helpful to get second and sometimes third opinions from attorneys at other firms.

- have your new employer apply for Perm asap anyways. These days labor comes in 45- 60 days via perm. You should immediately apply for i140. The 140 is also taking 3-6 months. Once you get your 140 you can apply for a 3 year extension instead of 1 year since 365 day rule applies if your labor was filed 365 days earlier and you do not have either labor or labor and 140 approved. Others in the forum can correct me if i am wrong.

I had the same experience on Wednesday. Do not hang up, you will be connected to an IO after a while.
I called (First time in last 4 months) to TSC using POJ method to check how they are trying to process cases. I know it was a futile attempt but wanted to try my luck regardless.
Guess what? When you can't get through right away (which is never) you get put on hold in queue. Instead of background music you would get with any other wait in queue system - the message kept repeating every second - "Your estimated wait time is between 10-15 minutes"...
It annoyed the heck out of me and I hung up rather than hearing the message over and over again.
Since I have not called in past few months, I do not know if this is how it always worked or is this a recent change. As far as I recall, they did have background music which made it a little bearable to wait 10 minutes.

I don't know about India but in Pakistan carrying cash is a huge risk. I have heard several stories of people (including relatives of some of my friends) who got robbed upon arriving at Karachi and they were carrying lots of cash / jewelry.

I am not trying to be rude. but really we should use some common sense. If you are visiting another state within US why would you need a visa? If you are still not sure check with the cruise ship customer service.
